Missions
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied – Luke 6:21
The Missions Ministry endeavors to emulate the works of Jesus and to act as good shepherds to others. We hunger to serve and quench others’ thirst to know the Lord. Service to others and spreading the good news deepens our relationship with God and our neighbors.
We aid a variety of local, national, and international mission projects through financial support and hands-on participation, as we feel that these are concrete ways to demonstrate faith, compassion and love.
Partnerships
The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts: In conjunction with TABCOM, our congregation’s directed giving supports America for Christ, One Great Hour of Sharing, World Mission Offering, and Retired Ministers and Missionaries.
Carter Memorial United Methodist Church: We are collaborating with Carter UMC on the Bread of Life dinner project to create a venue for needy families living in Needham to receive free weekly meals.
Murrow Indian Children’s Home: In 1975 we began a keen attachment to the Murrow Home – a group foster home for abused children in Muskogee, Oklahoma – and have sent missionaries to plant seeds of faith and hope amongst the children living at the home.
Town of Needham
In our home town, our church’s assistance efforts have included the Gift of Warmth Program, a Health Department effort that provides home heating assistance to Needham residents who meet certain income limits; Needham Community Council; Needham Council on Aging – Stephen Palmer Senior Center; Stanley Tippett House, a terminal care facility in Needham; Steps to Success Program, a Public Schools undertaking that assists low income students entering Needham High School, and the Walker School’s Needham Campus.
Eastern Massachusetts
In our region we provide assistance to Andover Newton Theology School; Boston Rescue Mission, also known as Kingston House; Bristol Lodge Family Shelter – Mary’s House; Project Bread, the Walk for Hunger; Pine Street Inn; and the Northern Baptist Education Society.
International Work
In 2011, we traveled to Port au Prince, Haiti to work at the Marian Austin School and Orphanage. We had the opportunity to paint, repair screens, install ceiling fans, and bond with children and teens. We hope to make a return trip in 2012. Stay tuned for more information.
We additional support a number of international ministries and missionaries.
